Sisal Carpets Abu Dhabi | FAQs

Sisal carpet at Carpet Hub currently ranges from AED 240 to AED 280. Your final figure depends on the weave and fiber specification, the area, customization, underlay, edging, installation type and site conditions such as levelling or removal of existing flooring. We confirm the exact cost in a written, itemized quote after a free site measurement.

Yes, in air-conditioned interiors. Indoor spaces across Abu Dhabi sit at stable humidity under normal AC, and sisal performs well in those conditions. The genuine risks are unconditioned rooms, properties left vacant without air conditioning for extended periods, and localized damp near AC diffusers or riser cupboards. We check those points during measurement.

No. Sisal absorbs moisture and will stain, discolor and shrink when repeatedly wetted. We do not install it in bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, poolside areas or open balconies. For those spaces we supply a sisal-look polypropylene that gives similar texture with proper moisture tolerance.

Untreated sisal is absorbent and does mark, particularly from water, tea, coffee and wine. Blotting a spill immediately usually prevents a permanent mark. For dining rooms, family rooms and offices we recommend a fiber-protection treatment, which gives you time to react before liquid soaks into the fiber.

For durability, yes. Sisal is significantly stronger, resists crushing and works on stairs, where jute does not. But jute is softer underfoot and costs less, so it can be the better choice for a low-traffic bedroom on a budget. The right answer depends on the room, not on the fiber.

Yes, and it performs well because it resists crushing on the nosing. Two rules apply: the weave must run down the flight rather than across it, and on staircases with winders or bullnose treads we recommend a bouclé weave, because directional patterns like herringbone visibly distort on turns.

Minimally, and mainly in the first few weeks as loose fibers from manufacturing work free. Regular vacuuming clears it and it settles down. Sisal sheds noticeably less than jute.

Sisal is fitted using a double-stick or fully bonded method. The underlay is bonded to the prepared subfloor and the carpet is bonded to the underlay. It is not stretched over gripper rods, because sisal has very little elasticity and a stretched installation will ripple. The roll is also acclimatized on site before cutting.

For wall-to-wall installations, yes. Underlay adds comfort to a firm weave, improves acoustic performance and protects the carpet from subfloor irregularities. We specify the type to the room, dense crumb rubber for most residential floors, contract-grade for offices, acoustic grade for apartments, and anti-slip backing for loose rugs on marble.

With a correct installation in a dry interior, sisal is a long-life floor covering — its fiber strength is the reason it is used in high-traffic areas. Actual lifespan depends on traffic, sunlight exposure, moisture events and maintenance, so we will not attach a fixed number to it. We will give you a realistic expectation for your specific rooms at survey.
